King Parker, Renton City Councilman announces his
candidacy for the office of Mayor for the City of Renton. As Mayor of Renton, he
plans to add to the direction and foundation that is already in place to make
Renton a thriving and united community in which to live and work.
Parker, a long-time city resident and business owner has served on the Renton
City Council for the last seven years. He understands the complexities and
fiscal responsibilities of running the City. During his tenure on the council he
has been a member of every council committee, served as Council President and
has chaired the Finance Committee for the last five years.
Parker’s vision for the future includes:
Focusing on public safety issues
Maintaining and supporting our amenities such as parks and recreation facilities
Safe water and safe streets
Ensuring accountability and fiscal responsibility
Work towards greater government efficiencies
Building on a strong neighborhood program
Continuing redevelopment opportunities downtown, in the Highlands and other business centers that bring jobs to Renton
Providing a healthy atmosphere to live, work and raise families
Parker’s dedication and commitment to the Renton community runs deep, which is one of the reasons he was honored in 1999 as Renton Citizen of the Year. “I truly care about Renton and take pride in making myself visible and accessible to the citizens of Renton. As Mayor, I will work to develop a sense of partnership between the Mayor’s office, council members, citizens and city staff.
