I endorse King Parker as Mayor of Renton.
King understands city management. He is an eight-year veteran of City Council, and has worked on all eight City Committees. Currently he Chair’s Renton Finance Committee. King believes in strong fiscal management. He encouraged economic development, which brought in new businesses. Those businesses created more jobs and produced tax dollars used for City amenities.
King has served Renton for over 35 years. He’s been PTA President, a mentor and an active member of several community service groups including Renton Rotary and Kiwanis. King is well known throughout the community for being an honest and amiable character. He is very personable. He listens to citizen concerns, and addresses them face-to-face.
Listed below are some of the successes accomplished over the eight years of my term of office. These could not have been accomplished without the partnership and support of King Parker:
Prudent fiscal management of City Government has allowed us to lower property tax rates and eliminate utility rate increases. At the same time we've grown revenue through successful economic development policies. While the state, county, and other cities are in financial trouble, cutting services and laying off employees, Renton is now in excellent financial condition, with healthy financial reserves, and with no need to lay off employees or reduce services to our citizens.
Renewal of the Downtown Core: Modern housing such as the Renaissance, the Metropolitan, and Burnett Station; New downtown Parking Garage; New Piazza Park; Renovation of Pavilion Building; Dedicating land and constructing the new Veteran's Memorial Park.
Constructing an Aquatic Center to replace the demolished Henry Moses Pool.
The dredging of the Cedar River and constructing floodwalls and dikes to prevent annual flooding.
I ask that you continue the progress that has occurred during the last eight years. The best way to do this is to elect a candidate who can best manage the city, and who shares our vision of success. King Parker is the right person for the job of Mayor. He has the experience, ideas, and energy to effectively manage this city. His vision for Renton builds on our city's successes, of which he has played an indispensable role. I have confidence he will lead the city to even greater success in the future. I strongly support King and know he'll be a great Mayor of Renton. I urge you, as fellow citizens, to do what is best for Renton and to support King with your votes.
Thank you,
